The global space economy is booming. In 2024, the estimate is that the market value ranges from $400 to $600 billion—and it’s not slowing down anytime soon. Annual growth projections vary from a steady 3% (BryceTech) to a more ambitious 7.8% (The Space Report), but one thing is clear: satellites are leading the charge.

BryceTech reports that a staggering $293 billion, or 71% of the total space sector revenue, comes from satellite-related activities. The Space Report paints an even more vivid picture, valuing the global space economy at $613 billion, with $480 billion—nearly 78%—driven by commercial infrastructure, products, and services.

In the UK, the satellite industry is thriving. According to London Economics, the sector generated £18.6 billion in total income in 2022. The ecosystem now includes 1,907 organisations—a net increase of 142 from the previous year. Notably, this edition of the study captures more than twice the number of organisations compared to the 2018 report, highlighting the sector’s rapid expansion and growing dynamism.
